Ex Gil, Arborea
1935-2017; Time has run its course.
Casa del Fascio and GIL Building are close, in the founded town of Arborea (founded by the fascist regime in 1928 in the drained flat land of Marrubbio as Mussolinia di Sardegna). Their horizontal and vertical lines, slender and rational and curves, dialogue between themselves even today, even with modification and integrations during the past decades.
Time has run its course.
Today, the legacy of the foundation remains: the rationalist imprinting that had to rapresent the regime, speaking about its time, became an interrupted space - partially used, moderately renewd, mostly abandoned - between time and memory.
It's a summary about changing of times in the architectures. The syntetic green layer overlapped the sand of the football field; the whiteenlighted rooms remain as they were, but deserted, with their unpolished white marble pavement. Swimming pool it's abandoned, sorrounded by safety measurements; maybe it will return.
