The Mall is a small independent preparatory school in Twickenham, south-west London. The school sits on a highly restricted site and any form of improvement requires the most careful use of the limited land that is available.

Having completed a small swimming pool in the heart of the school a few years previously, BHM were asked to look at a new performance space following the school’s acquisition of some disused retail units on the main road immediately adjoining the school site. Utilising some of the architecture of the existing Victorian buildings already on the site and linking that with a more modern re- constituted stone façade the Mall now has a small flexible performance space and music school.
