4000 sqm of commercial surface in Royal City shopping mall reconverted in one of the largest contemporary art gallery and workshop in Vietnam.
The main space is fully flexible, composed by movable wall partitions which don’t touch the ceiling. It creates unlimited layout solutions depending on the form and size of artworks exhibited.
The project keeps the existing huge sky dome but turns it squared shape. This is the central place for artwork in need of zenithal lighting.
The black box container is also movable, it can be used for private viewing of smaller artworks or different set-up.
The front side is a large glass window display, porous interface between the public space and the gallery.
Vietnamese cities enter into a mass-consumerism era, the project falls into this context, where shopping malls are becoming more than shops galleries only but also “social hubs”, new territories of experimentations for arts and cultural activities, potentially attracting a larger public.
The opening was a great success with more than 3000 visitors taking pictures and interacting with the artworks.
