Playground
Truly, the Italian street art collective obsessed with anamorphic art, recently accepted a new challenge by Fondazione per l'Architettura / Torino, IED Torino and ARTECO for 2017 edition of Architettura in Città, the city's annual architecture festival.
We spent two wonderful days holding a workshop with twenty students ranging from middle school to IED students, teaching them how to approach new perspectives through anamorphic painting. Their goal was to come up with a new design for Drovetti Middle School's playground. We divided the kids in two groups and had them brainstorm ideas, colors, and a textual anamorphic element which represented the school's philosophy. They then proceeded to paint the whole surface with us merely assisting. The resulting area is a bombastic and colorful intersection of different sport and game fields which kids from that very school can use for play during recess or gym class.
The youngsters learned so quickly that we couldn't keep up!
And of course shooting a few hoops was mandatory.
