Vaisseau Mère
Shortlisted for the Equerre d’Argent 2017
In a small space, a mix between concrete, curve, light and color under the garden
To respond to the building permit application for rue Rebiere in the 17th district, Paris Habitat OPH has decided to substitute to the Tour du Bois le Pretre its small car park to create a landscaped garden surrounding the Tour under which a 123 spaces car park will be built.
The narrowness of the plot drove us to merge the interior access ways with the access ramps at the different levels. Thus only I non-steep slope serving all 123 spaces has been designed.
The radius of curvature required by the property boundaries have given the parking a spiral shape.
The structure is in in accordance with this shape and allows every points of the parking to have a global view of the space.
The beams harmoniously guide the path and are supporting a continuous light network promoting a reassuring environment required by such a project ( no nooks or shadowy corners).
The choice of a raw structure for the space will be punctuated by splashes of colours and exaggerated signal panels therefore accentuating the spiral shape and counter balancing the raw aspect that is often associated with this type of project.
The dialogue is insured between:
-mat grey raw concrete and shiny bright splashes of colours
-straight prestressed beams and sophisticated tubular equipment
-opacity of the walls and lightness of the openings (glass doors/ openwork railing) -the rawness of the concrete and the softness of the curve
