Collection No. III
The third collection designed for Marta Sala éditions by architects Lazzarini&Pickering presents a series of new pieces, some see the addition of new product types to the range, others continue to investigate modularity and multi-functionality.
New materials, such as Rosso Francia marble or crystal, bright colours such as various shades of turquoise, purple and white characterise the collection.
A quest to create pieces that respond to the diverse needs of customers and can establish a dialogue with their surroundings thanks to their timeless elegance and precious materials expertly crafted by Italian artisans, continues to feature strongly in the collections of Marta Sala.
Fabrics for the collection No - III are still by Pierre Frey, some from the new catalogue such as Louison crème for the new Silla or Annie armchair, also crème, for the new cover for the Elisabeth sofa.
The collection has been extended with a new sofa with a hexagonal base that features two styles of back: straight, Inge or oval, Angelika. The version in dark-grey mohair velvet highlights the complexity of its making, emphasising its impressive dimensions.
Up until now the tables by Marta Sala éditions have been mainly square or rounded rectangles. The new Penelope table is a round and an impressive piece, consisting of a floor-standing base in Rosso Francia marble - another important new feature in terms of materials - around which winds a structure with a bronzed finish that supports an elegant top in red polyester lacquer.
Guya is an unusual lamp within the panorama of lighting objects. Floor-standing, it consists of a stem onto which can be fitted different lampshades, in fabric, also chosen by the client, or in metal with different forms and finishes. The stem comes in various versions: in burnished brass, polished or satin black chrome it can take a traditional light bulb or LED fitting and the triangular fixing enables the lamp to also be placed in a corner. The screen has always played an important role in the collections of Marta Sala because it enables an immediate reinterpretation of space as a mobile structure, thanks to the combination of materials and colours. For the third collection a new screen is presented, Luis, with a more linear form. The hinges have been replaced by metal inserts: polished black chrome has been chosen for the version with four panels in turquoise velvet, a colour that features throughout the collection while satined brass features on the black and white striped model with three panels.
Finally, a handle, Juan, is a brand new product type that Marta Sala requested from architects Lazzarini&Pickering in as much as it is an essential detail that adds the finishing touches to a home design. Available in brass in various finishes it is presented as an accessory to a sofa or an elegant armchair.
It is a detail that, in the MSE catalogue, goes to complete the series of accessories begun with vases and plate Tizio and Caio.
The collection No. III presents some of the best sellers from previous collections, reworked in terms of form and materials.
The Murena chair, one of the most exemplary designs from the previous collection, is re-proposed in various versions: one of great elegance has a structure with a satined brass finish and seat in anthracite-grey mohair velvet. The same chair is presented without armrests, with a structure in polished steel, more contemporary looking and, thanks to the fabric by Pierre Frey in a white-beigecolour, ideal for outdoor use.
Finally, Murena is also available as a soft low armchair, Silla, covered in a luxurious, cream-coloured fabric: introducing different seat-heights is very important for varying the levels of conversation and encouraging dialogue between the various interlocutors.
According to the same concept, the Duda chair is presented in three new versions: a smaller chair, Dudina; a large, low one, Dudotta and finally a high stool version, Pedro.
The Mathus table introduced in the previous collection seems to acquire a new sense of lightness thanks to a glass top combined with a structure in brass and creates a dialogue with the rug that is proposed in turquoise plant silk.
The Renoir mirrors and the potential they offer on both a playful and practical level have inspired the model Narciso: a metal book in polished or satined brass and polished or satined nickel, and in polished or satined black nickel, that thanks to a concealed strip of LEDs, is transformed into a wall light that can be installed in the preferred direction, or placed on a table like a contemporary candle.
