Concept for Mondadori Retail Competition
Mondadori Live combines traditional retail with new activities to stimulate the shop's life.
The publishing world is rapidly changing and traditional paper books and magazines have been alongside new digital formats that suggest a new conception of retail spaces, not just product containers, but places that promote "cultural contents" and entertainment to involve customers.
The central area can be transformed with a few simple moves and host live activities: events, presentations, meetings with authors, readings and conferences. Central display units are equiped with small wheels and can be easily moved, aggregated and reconfigured in different layouts as needed.
Large HD displays, placed in the shop windows, show inner life in real time and alternates info, events calendar, sales and all live activities. During showcases displays become a virtual window to see life taking place inside the store.
The ceiling layout suggests perception of functional zones, however without interfering with any possible configuration. Suspended ceilings design intangible rooms and contribute to people's orientation in sales space.
