Controlar Headquarters
In the current context of globalization, based on a process of technical revolution, the development of companies in the field of technological innovation - such as Controlar - has been marked by a physical dematerialisation and smaller space requirements compared to traditional industry. In this regard, and based on the pre-existence of a large building which serves as a "skin", the concept of action is based on dividing its interior in various spaced boxes, arranged according to the program and spans in the original facades. This proposal aims to build within the already built and add without touching, in order to integrate without merging these two distinct architectures. The approach also allowed a free flow of natural light from the roof and facades to the interior which contributes to more luminous traffic, leisure and working areas.
The objective of sustainability has also generated concern about the issue of cooling, which here is restrained to the interior of the rooms, therefore restricting the consumption needs to each of the spaces. The organization of space through the use of boxes resulted in the creation of an “outdoor space” within the interior of the building, in a logic of gradual dissipation of accessibility and ease of access to the entire infrastructure network for maintenance.
In order to stand out from the grey coloured pre-existing building, the new boxes use white coloured metal and polycarbonate, materials from the industrial imaginary that assure a bright space and are of easy maintenance.
One of the most important characteristics of this project resides in the usage of economic light structures and typified construction details, thus ensuring a rationalization of its construction.
