Renovation of 170 student accomodation
To provide a brand new identity for Portugal's residence inside the International City University of Paris, and for a greater recognition within the city, we have developed an intensive workload with the building exteriors.
The main residential building elements are fully engulfed in a military gray color, which is reminiscent of the colors of a battleship.
This particular shade emphasizes the single piece monolith appearance which can alleviate the various supports that have been applied to it over time as well as to offset the pollution caused by the over-used roads below.
The large windows are outlines by soft phosphorous signal coating that refracts lights from cars incoming from nearby boulevards. The kinetic highlight is especially suitable to the building urbanism form and design.
The exterior of the high ground floor (consisting of the theater and showrooms) are covered with a heat treatment as well as an outer sheath representing aluminum cassettes that are drilled by golden tints. It also reproduces the«calçadas» pavement pattern found on the already existing ground. The second skin backyard provides a brand new identity to the building, a hunt of gold, black, and red; a Portuguese flavor within Paris.
