House in La Zapateira
This house was made by the studio of the great architect D. Andrés Fernández-Albalat in the seventies, so having the opportunity to restore it was much more than a gift for us.
Our client with the sensitivity enough to fall in love with such work depended on us totally. Therefore, we only ask for the prudence to act and not spoil anything.
We face this task with a great respect for what exists and with the necessary care to not lose or alter the soul of the house along the way.
There is a set of two houses situated on a spectacular plot in La Zapateira. The spaces of the main house are designed to fit the current needs, because the rooms of a house made in the 70's are smaller for what is currently demanded. We acted with very subtle surgery to revive a house that had slept for many years.
The auxiliary house was just a structure that outlined a pool house or possible guest house. This house, finished Zinc, tries not to compete with the main but complement it.
The exterior was very well worked, playing with different concrete pavements and with a careful gardening that frames the project to perfection. The prismatic volumes of the houses contrast with the curved shapes of the garden and pool.
