Police Station
The police station in Sierre is located in the north and west base of the Council Administration buildings.
The project takes advantage of the existing difference in level between the train station precinct and the Council gardens. It is organised on a single level in contiguity with the existing basement. The project creates a dialogue with the street level of the train station, forming the eastern limit to this precinct and the entrance to the building. Inside are housed the offices for the Police and the Residents’ Office. Access for police vehicles is created in the northwest corner.
The roof completes the Council gardens and becomes an esplanade entrance accessible from the street level, serving also the Regional Health Centre. Patios and skylights penetrate the esplanade level, bringing light to offices and internal circulation zones below. The stone façades are punctuated with openings arranged in an irregular manner to enhance the strength of the base.
