The Plange Mühle, a former grain mill, was built in 1906. Grain milling ceased at the site in the 1990s and the industrial land was integrated into the refurbishment plans for the Dusseldorf Media Harbour.
The mill was painstakingly refurbished and put to another use. The appearance of the brick buildings was retained and highlighted by the choice of a simple design concept. The fenestration, which characterised the form and façade of the long building from the 1950s, was carried over into the new development and reinforced the effect of the listed clock tower.
The industrial character of the former grain mill is also retained in the internal architecture. Users of the high, loft-like rooms include freelancers and service industry companies. There are also areas designated for restaurants, wellness facilities and exhibitions.
The Plange Mühle has a unique view of the Media Harbour and the Düsseldorf city skyline.
