Private swimming pool in Lastra a Signa
This pool comes from the clients desire to create a space that would enhance the garden of their villa in the countryside on the hills of Lastra a Signa near Florence.
The available land presented an irregular shape, sloping and dotted with a dozen olive trees to which the client was particularly fond and didn't want remove. The beautiful view towards the valley was not noticeable from every point of the garden, because covered by the vegetation that surrounds the whole area.
In addition, the landscape bond that protects the entire area required to comply with certain rules that greatly affected the design choices.
The positioning of the pool represented indeed the most complex part of the project, the one that has taken longer and that brought up a large number of discussions and several attempts. Yet right the decision on the positioning has finally magnified the quality of the intervention.
It was chosen the part of the plot further away from the house, which until then was the most marginal and least used: we thought that such an arrangement would brought to live more the garden, making it like a natural link between the two spaces.
The pool is oriented along the axis N - S, so as to occupy the vacant land between the olive trees without intercepting the roots during the excavation. It is configured as a three-parted composition, with the spaces interlocked in a sequence: the pool, the solarium covered with Indonesian Teak and a raised platform cladded with Albanera stone.
The panorama, enjoyable by all points of the pool, is an ever-changing background from the sunrise until nightfall, when the city lights illuminate the landscape.
