WHAT'S BEEF
Shaped by the tradition of burger joints in America's cosmopolitan cities, burger restaurant "What's Beef" creates a feeling of urban culture, right in the heart of Dusseldorf's Japanese district.
In cooperation with the restaurant owner and passionate art collector Selim Varol, mo.studio put emphasis on a coherent overall architectural impression. Through tiled walls, presented street-art and a strong emphasis on the color "red", an atmosphere is created that can be found somewhere between Brooklyn, Upper East Side and Meatpacking District.
Aim of the project is to establish a connection between Burger and Art.
Matching "What's Beefs" slogan "A mouth full of gold", art-works by the American streetartist Shepard Fairey are presented on a golden wall. These show pop-art portraits of international legends and create the restaurant's "Wall of fame".
Another characteristic of the shop is the color "red" that can be found in every corner of the restaurant. It makes up the golden thread of the interior design concept and it can be seen in details such as straws, logo or sticker.
All in all, an authentic American diner atmosphere is created through the combination of modern golden or silver Tolix chairs and folksy wooden tables.
