XXI Triennale di Milano. Extemporary Capsule
A microarchitecture intervention with an auto-construction approach.
Curatorship by João Cruz e Paolo Mestriner.
The Extemporary Capsule emerges as a micro-architecture initiative under a self-construction scheme. Curated by architects Paolo Mestriner and Jo.o Cruz, at the origin of this project lies the configuration process through the act of doing.
This manifesto project uses the process of self-construction as a catalyst, when reflecting on environmental and social issues raised in the current international context, defying – in its way of doing things, in its slow timing, and in its collective thinking – the prejudiced paradigm of instituted construction.
First developed in a community setting by ESAD and POLIMI Politecnico di Milano students, the workshop entitled A Mão Encontra a Mente [The Hand Meets the Mind] – which is part of the continuous educational practice included in the Master’s Degree Study Program in Interior Design, coordinated by Maria Milano – looks at relationships involving interaction and proxemics of the body with the space-object, that will successively define three types of moments developed by three different groups, each one referred to body-space-body actions, respectively: Entering , Passing Through, and Being.
The process becomes complete with the act of self-construction, participated by the authors themselves, while constituting, in the form of a microarchitecture, the module Extemporary Capsule , in the Portuguese participation at the XXI Triennale International Exhibition Milan 2016. The project will be presented at Leonardo da Vinci National Science and Technology Museum.
