A tight slice of urban plot, a part of Listed Building was vacant for long time. The width of the shop, 2.5 m and widen at the end to 3.1m in the length of 9.0m didn’t stop the shop owner to start their first venture in the central London.
Making use of contemporary of our time, we took advantage of what we already have in the space and what we can discover. The design process was done by the act of observation though foreign eyes being sensitive to local materials and products, we found own identities in the ways of adaptation to the context.
Slow pace of the project progress gave us time to reflect and contemplate underneath surfaces that prevailed other dimension of space show it’s face in the end.
The warmth of bare plaster finish wall marked with hands of craftsmanship -(undercoats for most of domestic internal wall) create delicate texture and feel of translucency lit by large tungsten bulbs with home made organic products being sold over the bright white counter. The galvanized conduit accentuates in the middle of the space with an antique chandelier.
The spine of the space is the 8m long resin based solid continuous counter turns displaying foods hosting customer in table form continuously, contains integrated ice counter and follower pot keeps an orange tree at the transition step.
