Johannes Faust Passion, a choreodrama in 12 scenes is the original work of art of the esteemed and world acclaimed dancer, choreographer and stage director Milko Sparemblek. By carefully selecting the music for Johannes Faust Passion, the author has based his staging of a mythical subject on selected medieval vocal works of unknown authors, compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach and original music composed by Neven Franges; this has all been complemented with texts by Johann Wolfgang Goethe and his own.
Although the performance achieved great success on the Zagreb stage in 2001, this new production is a modified and complemented version of the European mythical story that had confirmed its remarkable quality, omnipresence and timelessness. Sparemblek, having decided to go for the eternal Faustian theme that presumes authentic constants of universal meaning, has complemented a part of the west-European collective memory circle with the transcendental, converting everything into reflective, but visually articulate events through movement, scenes, situations and atmosphere.
