Azul Histórico Restaurant
“Azul histórico” Restaurant is located half a block from Madero Street and just in front of the Casino Espanol in the historical center of Mexico city. It began operation in early 2012 and is part of the Hotel Downtown managed by Habita and the successful family of restaurants Azul, located in different parts of Mexico City.

It began operation in early 2012 and is part of the Hotel Downtown managed by Habita and the successful family of restaurants Azul, located in different parts of Mexico City.
For the development of the architectural proposal, the owner, restaurateur Gonzalo Serrano relied on the experience of the architects Juan Pablo Serrano from Serrano Monjaraz Architects and Elias Kababie from kababie arquitectos.
The project focused on maintaining the integrity of the original court of the great colonial building that was adapted to their new business. The magnificent interior facades are the frame around the restaurant immersed in the greenery and openfully enjoyment of diners. In honor of the great project of architectural reuse of this extraordinary building, Juan Pablo Serrano and Elias Kababie made the selection of furnishings the important location of the space in mind.
In some of the tables can be read the names of the nearby streets, area maps, characters and dates related to the historical center. In the bathroom large copper pots as sinks, as a tribute to Mexican cuisine, were used. To give an industrial twist, the lights out on a mesh on the part of the ceiling to inspire visitors on the importance of reusing materials that already completed an application and can have a new life using ingenuity .
Another detail that stands out in space is the artificial lighting in the transition from day to night, because every time the guests should feel welcome and enjoy their stay, whether for a quick lunch to recharge energy or a long family meal . Renowned Chef Ricardo Muñoz Zurita is in charge of the menu so the visit to this new space is an experience that satisfies all the senses.
