DOPPELGANGER: WHAT WALKS BESIDE
Contemporary art exhibition held in the multipurpose space of the SESC Vila Mariana, in São Paulo, Brazil. The exhibition design was thought to reveal structures and bring the strangeness behind their appearance.
Each interface dealing with its materiality and limitations, keeping the verge of form, process and outcome, culminating in an experience that moves from the inside out.
Curated by Isabella Rjeille, the exhibition featured works produced by contemporary artists, interact with conditions and effects of duplicity, permanent or temporary, to cause strangeness and disturbing sensations to the public. According to the curator, "The works in this exhibition start from situations in which the boundaries that distinguish self and other, reality and illusion, strange and familiar, are diffuse."
The exhibition featured works of various media - video, performance, wall works and objects - that were arranged in a hight circulation flow, natural lighting and windy space. The three projection rooms could not be completely closed boxes and should be integrated into the space to encourage the public to the visitation.
