The Capibaribe River goes through the city of Recife before its dirty water merge with the sea. For many years now, the association Eu Quero Nadar no Capibaribe has been working hard to raise awareness about the polluted river.
The Praia Capibaribe Workshop is one of the many events organized along the river, aiming to bring the citizens of the Recife along the deserted water banks. The two weeks workshop focused on the construction of a “Praia”, a place where people could swim, hang-out, drink and party.
The project included a long swimming pool on the edge of the polluted water and a small floating swimming pool travelling along the river. The project was imagined and built in 10 days by the participants with recycled material.
