Cazenga Mediatheque. Luanda, Angola
Cazenga’s Mediatheque is located in Cazenga, one of the seven municipalities of Luanda, the Capital of Angola. With only 42,6 Km2 and almost 2’000.000 inhabitants, this building will be an important contribution to the local communities. The main building is constructed using dark clay klinker bricks and glass facades that create a balanced dialogue in between these two materials as well to provide the thermal protection and natural light into the spaces.
Some patios are created to accommodate protected exterior spaces for kids and also to plant some repellent trees that will prevent the existence of mosquitoes in that location and therefore the prevention of Malaria. The landscape strategy, the green roof and walls thermal inertia will provide a significant decrease of energetic consumption of the building that will be a key feature for the maintenance of these public buildings.
