The topographic house
This small house is built in the developing residential area of Sapporo, the north of Japan. A promenade along the small waterway is located in the south of the planned site. The site’s level rises about 1,200 mm from the promenade. Beyond the waterway, a well maintained park with a hill can be seen, and also Mt. Teine is in a view further beyond. By extending the surrounding topography and height differences into the interior, We expected an “interior with organic relationship” to be created, which has various patterns of connection between outside and inside, and the distance between the family members. The differences in altitude of the floors cause the actions of the family members within to vary.
