Bruno Minardi
Bruno Minardi asserts the idea that the architecture stems not from intellectual issues but from the existing town, the place, the nature. His work is informed by a theoretical approach and a respect for existing world founded not imitation but in analogy. From this issue, he arises a vocabulary of formal types drawn not only from architecture but also from industrial landscape such as the repeated lean-to workshop roofs of the Venice Arsenale and the large cylindrical forms of industrial tanks.
Stressing that, architecture is always part of an existing urban context, and that is should grow from local building and climatic considerations rather than intellectual choice in the abstract.
Professor of Architectural and Urban Planning at IUAV (Venice) and UNIFE (Ferrara) and External Examiner at the A.A. (London). His theoretical considerations are collected in "Architettura come Superfetazione" (Siace, Milano 1993). His work is documented in leading international journals and collected in the monographs:
"Bruno Minardi" (Academy Edition, London 1997); "Case d'acqua" (Cluva, Venezia 1990); "Bruno Minardi Zeichungen und Architekturproject" (Steme, Munich 1986); "Elementi, Edifici, Progetti" (Kappa, Roma 1981).
He exhibited in various issues at the Biennale Architettura in Venice and at the Triennale in Milan, as well as in several events organised by prestigious art galleries and museums, conferences and workshops held in Italy and abroad.
