Investigation into the unique material, in Kenya, Soap Stone.
The Landscape Studio
This was a project investigation to see how we could re consider the nature and use of soap stone, an iconic stone, found in Western Kenya. Our initial explorations were in pursuit of exterior lighting solutions for a small private garden. The raw stone is so beautiful we simply created clean slices within the stone, exposing the bright white centre; a beautiful contrast to the russet exterior.
These were used as stone elements in the garden, and light reflected off the exposed sides, as lighting bollards.
