VILLAS QUINT
Building of eight compact villas with patios in the southwest of France.
This project consists of a group of eight individual and compact houses, with separate gardens and private parking lots. On the ground floor, each house is composed of a 96.7 m² area with three bedrooms; on the first floor, there are two bedrooms for a total of 96.7 m².
The individual row-houses are coupled to generate a sense of unity, while expressing a true individual feature: the houses are mirrored around a central patio. Every house is oriented both north and south, with a living room opening onto a terrace and a garden on the south end. The design of the slanted roof and the extracted volumes of the first floor give the villas a sculpted look. The unsuitable “block” effect is thus avoided thanks to this configuration.
Both patios and inner window frames are painted in grey to produce a visual contrast with the white rendering of the exterior facades and to highlight the sculpted volumes. Lush flowerbeds set up along the north facade frame the entrance of each villa. In the private gardens, trees are planted and fences are doubled with green hedges.
On the rear side of the project, each villa comes with an open shelter composed of a metal frame and cladded with timber slats. This buffering structure has two functions: it provides a covered parking lot for one car and two motorbikes and creates a visual pace to the successive individual doorways and the common access way.
