The speed of execution, the economy of means and the potential reversibility of the investment were the clearly fixed starting points of the project. The small budget allowed for the acquisition of two High Cube containers. Faced with the external industrial nature of the containers and environment, interior design focused on comfort and warmth, using wood as the main construction material for a uniform treatment to walls, floors and tables. The period between the formalisation of the order, the search for the site and the delivery of the facilities was carried out in 1 month and a cost of 14,500€.
The project arises from the customer’s need to expand their workspaces as a result of a substantial leap in their document digitalisation work. This significant surge is met with caution and makes the speed of execution, the economy of means and the potential reversibility of the investment a clearly fixed starting point.
The company was looking for a space to house 8 workstations and to accommodate the reception area and storage space for the large quantities of paper that are regularly received. After consulting with the architects, the company decides to settle in a warehouse.
Faced with the creation of conventional offices in this type of enclosure, the use of maritime containers as a base structure to carry out the project is proposed. A solution that responds to the initial needs in a very appropriate way, ensuring potential adaptability and possible future extensions with very short execution time.
The small budget allowed for the acquisition of two High Cube of 12.03x2.352x2.698, which sets the initial interior surface at 56.58m². This allows for the inclusion of a toilet and a management office to the workspace.
The relative displacement between both containers allowed, in addition to the hint of an entrance space, the formalisation of a main space taking advantage of the full width of the two containers and two more "independent" spaces that house the bathroom and the management office.
Faced with the external industrial nature of the containers and the environment where they are placed, the interior design focused on comfort and warmth. To do this, we opted for the use of wood as the main construction material, giving a uniform treatment to walls, floors and tables and thus provide the desired warmth.
In order to make the space brighter and reduce the investment in wood to the maximum, the roof was painted with white thermal paint of ceramic microspheres (used in the automotive industry). This allowed for, in addition to the desired savings, an important thermal insulation
The interior construction details were aimed at hiding of the vertical elements of the tables and to make the table and the wall lining work in an integrated way to support their workloads. This objective definitively determined the breakdown of the wall parts and the appearance of diagonal braces under the tables.
The period between the formalisation of the order, the search for the site and the delivery of the facilities was carried out in 1 month and had a total cost of € 14,500.
