Miles Vianen
In commission of e-prop BV we made the design for “Miles”, a large distribution centre located in business park “De Biezen, in Vianen. The starting point for this green location was making a modest yet noteable building.
The façade of the building is mostly made out of corrugated steel sheet that displays a subtle linear pattern because of the different levels of reflection of the paint colour. The dark colour of the plinth and the dock shelters creates visual tranquillity and makes the dock numbering stand out.
The office part of the building has a partly wooden facade, which creates a soft appearance at the most important corner of the building. Additionally, the office and the mezzanine have been given large windows for plenty of natural light to contribute to a comfortable workplace.
An adjacent truck court insures a clear and safe handling of freight traffic, completely separated from passenger traffic and the accompanying parking facilities. The paved surface has been kept to a minimum to offer as much space as possible to grass and other green.
E-prop BV has a sustainable ambition for this project. In the elaboration of the building the aim is to acquire a BREEAM-Good certificate.
