Villa dei Prati
A home should be a place in which one can play hide and seek.
The starting point has been the important role that the traditional house always had in the Veneto region, Italy, but the real founding and compositional process started with the excavation works: as a matter of fact, the whole project revolves around removing volumes from a single mass. This action created the main characteristics of the project and of the site: a wide portico, the presence of double-heights inside the house, terraces and cavaediums that let the light flow. In the interior, the light screens, touches and moulds the stereometry indirectly, creating new atmospheres during different day hours and seasons. On the other hand, on the exterior surfaces, the light bounces off, bringing out the strong chromatic vibrations of the cement staves installed on the roof. The big openings on the ground floor create a strong continuity between the outside and the inside. In this way, the building can become one with the local landscape surrounding it, where the presence of faraway foothills adjusts and confirms the presence of the piece of work on the territory.
