Horizontal House
The house was projected on a peripheral and suburban area, with large lots, still little intervened and in tune with nature. These features gave proportion and materialness to the project that respects and honor the qualities of the environment.
Denying the worst orientation and emphasizing the introspection, its main facade occupies almost the entire width of the lot without offers many hints of what happens inside.
In the remarkable landscape proportion, accentuated by the horizontal plane of the concrete slab cover, stands out a dark metal cube containing the double door entrance.
In addition there are two blind panels; one coated with very thin flagstone edges, and the other with technological wood plates, which are present inside giving continuity to the material, coating the entrance hall and part of the dining room.
By accessing, the opposed image is presented, a large glazed surface displayed in a way that crosses all public rooms and because its transparency allows to view the entire park. In parallel, a protective gallery accompanies and provides shelter and alternatives of use, enhanced by the typical climate of the region.
The house is divided into two main areas; the north-south axis gathers the garage, kitchen, living, dining and service units, while on the east- west corridor are located the private areas, finishing in the main suite.
It is recurrent in our studio the search of suitable proportions to the context, expressions of materialness, simplicity in forms and the indoor-outdoor relationship in order to give meaning to the places.
