The "Corral d'en Capdet" is an old agricultural area that consists of three buildings: a farmyard, a "masia” (typical farmhouse of Catalonia), and Can Tomeu, which was the old house of the sharecroppers. The proposal of the project is to convert them into rural accommodation. Although the basic and executive projects of the three buildings are carried out, only Can Tomeu has been executed.
Following the way to the place, the first building we find is the “Corral de Capdet”, followed by the farmhouse and finally Can Tomeu, which is located in a flat area next to the circular terrain where grain was threshed. It is surrounded by the south, east and west by a small forest. The building consists of a main volume which is developed on two floors and two smaller annexes. The outer walls and an interior load-bearing wall are well conserved. Two new volumes are placed together with the main construction, which remains the center of articulation of the old annexes and the new extensions. This extension and the construction of a new swimming pool that stretches towards the circular terrain delimit the outer space.
The rehabilitation of the architectural complex is done respecting the environment where it is located. The criteria of sustainability necessary to preserve the rural environment are followed, thus promoting sustainable and self-sufficient tourism. A self-sufficient management project has been carried out for the entire architectural complex (using solar panels, diesel tanks and reusing wastewaters and rain waters, making them go through processes of natural phytodepuration).
