Nautical Villa: Puerto del Aguila
Puerto del Aguila is, unfortunately, not a sea port. However, it is a nautical dwelling by the banks of the lake „Los Molinos“ in the mountain range region of Sierras de Cordoba.
This holiday villa project was conceived following one fundamental idea: favoring a vast view over the lake while preserving the panorama of the mountains, including a view of Mount Champaqui.
The house stands at the back of the lot, at its highest elevation, and adjoins a green area at the back that acts as a visual extension of the house. Finally, and always bearing in mind the ideal of a seafront house, this house was designed aiming at a nautical image, obviously with neither cabins nor „bull’s eyes“. However, the nautical design of the house can be appreciated in its paths, stairs, banisters and „prows“ leading to the lake.
Following this nautical outline, the rooms of this villa have been arranged in a linear manner, overlooking the lake. There is a main room consisting of a living room/ dining room, separated from the kitchen by a breakfast bar. This room is preceded by a spacious, triangular gallery containing the grill. With such a layout, the gallery provides wonderful lateral views over the lake. Furthermore, the glass-walled living room offers a front view towards the lake and a rare view towards the mountains. The living room communicates with a hallway leading to the bedrooms as well as a with floating staircase leading to a lookout“ room on the second floor.
The master bedroom also offers a stunning view over the lake and the mountains and has a direct access to the sunbathing area of the swimming pool. The scenery from this room has been enhanced by a sliding window wall that acts as a telescope magnifying the view of the quiet waters of the lake.
All the bedrooms in the house have private bathrooms, which contributes to optimizing the use of this holiday villa while favoring the comfort of all the guests. The terrace of the „lookout“ room provides an access to the roof, also through a floating staircase, from which it is possible to reach the solar water heater, manifolds, and water tank valves. Furthermore, this spot provides a 360° panoramic view of the landscape.
To complete the Arch“ formed by the layout of rooms, there is another separate laundry and a double garage. These rooms also contribute to protecting the swimming pool, sunbathing area and grass adjacent to the gallery from the wind that often blows in the area. The laundry also displays an extension of one of its walls shaped as a hanging winnowed screen over which stands a metallic sculpture.
