A container of styles
The project, carried out by Studiomontañana, consists of the rehabilitation of a typical village house where the idiosyncrasy of this type of housing has been combined with a new design based on the art deco of the 40s.

The idiosyncrasy of the language of a popular architecture that survives over time has undoubtedly marked the guidelines of the new intervention in this house, whose original facade dates from the 40s.
The intervention has tried to recover the geometry and volume of the building while preserving the original layout of the house. Only the elements that structurally did not offer any support have been modified.
Popular architecture has been respected and the solutions that have endured over the years have been maintained. This establishes a dialogue between the old and the new that gives strength and character to the project.
The house starts from a central axis to which the different rooms open.
This axis becomes hall and merges into an interior courtyard open to the lounge area.
Marble white tasus and black marquina combine to delimit the space and generate different environments. In the kitchen, the green tones of the furniture and checkerboard floor reinforce the elegance of the space.
For the dining room, a paper-based covering has been used, stamped with ocher and gray branches and birds in homage to the old dining rooms of these popular houses. In this environment, we find the old restored door that, with a stained glass window also in ocher tones, opens this room to the living room. Here, behind large windows worked in grids, the courtyard appears, an indispensable element of the vernacular architecture that provides ventilation, light and freshness.
