The Steinbach cellar

The history of the winery located in Southern Styria goes back to the year 1770. A scattered farm, it consists of several edifices from various periods, the functionality of which was changed over time in order to make room for the working processes required.

The oldest building of the winery with a cellar once used for tasting and storing wine, no longer met the requirements of the young lady winemaker: the cellar space had not originally been designed for modern workflows. The idea thus was to translate the credo governing the wines – clear, elegant and timeless – into an adequate architectural language, as well as to optimize the functionality and workflows between sales, office, storage, and archives.
