Transformation of an office building into a students residence

To realise this office building conversion, the existing structure was stripped of its facade and simplified to reveal two distinct volumes composed of thin slabs and posts. The building now has a visual transparency that creates a relationship between the street space and the middle of the block. The facades are visually structured by the framework of the posts, into which the living
units are inserted. The connection of the exterior circulations to the structure optimises surface area by removing all central circulations and entirely freeing the existing slabs for the student accommodation. The passageways provide access to both the student’s accommodation and the exterior spaces, extending the living units and becoming their natural continuity.
