A beautiful view.
Perched on the parapet I admire the movement of the fishermen, the sargaceiros and two varinas (there are still!).
All framed by the line that distinguishes the gray blue of the sky, the blue-silver of the sea. I can imagine the bustle of varzim powder 30 years ago. The weather on the north Atlantic coast is sometimes rough but beautiful.
The building makes a corner of bevelled corners, resulting in a strange geometry of spaces within the fractions. The t2 has 70 m2 of gross area and almost nothing in the useful areas. The walls take up too much space. The architecture is weak, your time has passed - there is time for bad architecture - it is worn out and crashes on the beach.
The problem is to gain dimension. It is a work of demolition. There was an open space with a bedroom and a toilet, where there used to be two copies of each. I only maintained pillars, beams, walls that contain common facilities (kitchen and bath). On the outer walls, the corners were filled with cabinets - the boundaries were ordered.
Ceilings and some cabinets conceal structural accidents. In the case of the uncomfortable pillars, two singular shapes were arranged in form, brightness and color in the center of the space that they organize:
Form 1 - parallelepiped rectangle - Not executed!
Form 2 - trapezoidal prism - a gray cabinet, imposes the missing alignments, structuring and conforming the various functions of common free space in a centrifugal sense.
The angles were softened by rounding edges and corners, the obtuse geometry became more organic.
