Listen to the vacuum exhibition
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of the Scarpian restoration of Castelvecchio, in the suggesting space of the Cangrande, there was the performance of Luigi Nono’s notes, dedicated to his friend Carlo Scarpa in 1984. The installation “listen to the vacuum” represents, from an architectural point of view, Luigi Nono’s composition characterized by a continuous alternation of sound and silence, full and empty spaces, representing one of the possibile infinte in Carlo Scarpa’s poetics.
There are 25 red discs, with the installation text written on them, hung differently in the Cangrande space, respecting the Scarpian installation.
On the wall in front of the statue you can see a video installation referring to Luigi Nono’s music, alterning graphic marks and countdowns that describe the moments of silence.
The multi-level space of Cangrande becomes, for one night, a big soundbox playing Luigi Nono’s melody “A Carlo Scarpa Architetto, ai suoi infiniti possibili”
(To the architect Carlo Scarpa, to his possibile infinite).
