The aim of this competition launched by Visade was to select a number of architects for the development of a green and luxurious neghborhood near The Hague.
This project has been selected, together with other four, for the realization of two villas in a forest.
This wooden villa is an attempt to create a full integration between the natural context and the house.
Not only by using wood, a natural, prefabricated and recyclable material, but also by the grand openings towards the forest which create a full experience of integration.
Starting from the barn as archetype of the country house, a simple gester of shifting the garage creates a patio with new windows and new perspectives from the interior to the exterior.
A series of vertical structures on a modular grid determines a vibration on the facade.
The orientation of the building allows a natural sunlight balance and provides the perfect light per each function in the building.
This very linear plan layout is defined by a clear spine of service spaces which become a staircase and a bridge to the first floor rooms.
The living room is spacious and totally integrated with the sourrounding natural environment.
The building is provided with an heat pump, two fireplaces, solar panels, and perfect thermal insulation, totally made of recyclable wood fibers.
