the lighthouse.place where the greek structure of ortygia and the roman cardo-decumanus system are meld together with the nature of cliff. tension between finite and infinite.

basic unit where the privacy of a retired and contemplative life of the “cell”, slowly blend toward the core of public life, the piazza. intersection point between cardo and decumanus, place contended between entrance and exit.
