This project is a collaboration with Jo Kanamori, contemporary dance choreographer and
artistic director of dance company Noism in Ryutopia, first public contemporary dance
troupe in Japan. The idea of staging comes from the desire to transform the conventional
staging, where the audience is separated from the performance, then it is designed to
break away from the traditional separations. Spectators stand on the same platform as the
dancers. Through partitions winding space, the performance is increased in space and in
time into several independent scenes. Each viewer’s experience is “Unique” performance.
Whether it’s through a window or standing next to dancers, spectators all become part of a
instantaneous dream occurring among them. Each experienced a remarkable performance
with space, choreography, light and color. The plot of the whole performance is revealed
only at the end of the show when all the partitions separating the dancers and spectators
are identified. At this point, the whole scene is uniformly colored and discover the different
audiences character of the dance team and the real number.
