Relais nell’astigiano
Il restauro di un antico cascinale ha comportato l’adeguamento alla nuova funzione di relais di alto livello di tutti gli spazi esterni. L’ingresso al relais prevedeva la presenza di una grande rotonda per le manovre delle automobili. Questa rotonda è stata studiata per creare un effetto di armonia e leggerezza attraverso l’uso di graminacee e fioriture miste (Miscanthus, Stipa, Festuca, Verbena, Euphorbia..). La zona esterna prospiciente la sala bar è stata invece allestita con bordure di Buxus Sempervirens e ortensie, data la posizione particolarmente ombreggiata. Insieme all’architetto progettista del restauro è stata progettata una pergola in legno sbiancato nella corte interna del relais. La parte coperta dalla pergola è stata pavimentata a ghiaia, l’interno è stato lasciato a prato. Ai piedi della pergola è stata posizionata della bordura mista con essenze affini a quelle della rotonda più rampicanti che con il tempo andranno a coprire in parte la struttura (Rosa Iceberg, Clematis in varietà). All’interno della zona a prato invece sono stati inseriti dei Malus Red Sentinel.
The conversion of an old farmhouse into a luxury country hotel required all the exterior spaces to be adapted to this new role. A large driveway circle, built at the entrance for visitors’ cars to manoeuvre, is given a light and pleasing appearance with plantings of ornamental grasses and mixed flowers (Miscanthus, Stipa, Festuca, Verbena, Euphorbia). The garden area outside the guest bar is instead bordered with Buxus sempervirens and hydrangeas, to suit its shady position. The inner court of the hotel has a bleached wood pergola, designed in conjunction with the renovation architect, with gravel walks under the pergola and a lawn in the open central section. Planted around the base of the pergola are mixed borders of plants similar to those of the driveway circle, as well as climbers that will in time will partially cover the structure (Iceberg rose, Clematis varieties). Malus ‘Red Sentinel’ trees stand in the lawn area.
