CAFE BELONG
Located in the Brick Works, a century-old site transformed by Evergreen into Canada's first large-scale community environmental centre, Cafe Belong was designed to reflect Evergreen's cultural mandate, the historical character of the site and the food vision of celebrity Chef Brad Long. "Food is Fuel, Food is Medicine, Food is Love."
Multiple textures are layered using reclaimed wood, black steel, country marble, brick and terracotta. Reclaimed factory fixtures, custom-designed steel tables, whimsical light fixture (inspired by Antoni Tapies's Cloud sculpture in Barcelona) and vintage industrial artifacts link the past to the present.
"There is no pretense or moralizing, just an honest place, simply fun —with some great food", says Chef Long.
